A Wirral restaurant is offering half price salads to overweight customers in a bid to cut levels of obesity.
Blackberry Grove in New Brighton has responded to the news that Wirral had come top in the weight league by offering obese customers 50 per cent off healthy salads and smoothies.
Owner Joanna Jones explains: “I was quite shocked to be honest, to see that on the front page of all the National papers. I really didn’t think The Wirral would come out on top. When I read that I just thought that there has got to be a way to help these people – if they want it of course.
“I’ve spoken to a local award winning Personal Trainer and Nutritionist and we are offering customers a free 15 minute consultation with her as well as offering people all of our salads and healthy smoothies half price.”
New figures show that across England there were 811 hospital admissions out of every 100,000 people where doctors take note of a patient’s obesity.
